I took on a love of travel with my first ever trip out of the country with a friend when I was 18. Being in a different country was exhilarating and seeing life through the eyes of others opened my eyes to how different life looked for some. Some of the best friends I have made were acquired through travel (including my gorgeous hubby).

So why is travelling such a great experience for kids? Here are 10 reasons taking your kids on a trip will teach them so much.

1. That everyone doesn’t live the same way

As an 18-year-old, it was fascinating for m...

My husband loves going to places that aren’t of the norm. So it shouldn’t have surprised me recently when I asked him what he was thinking about and he replied, “Borobudur”. “Oh.” I smiled sympathetically, “Is that the syndrome the guy at your work has?”

In all seriousness though, (which let’s face it, doesn’t happen too often) Borobudur is a Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia. And in case you hadn’t heard of it, you’re not alone. However, statistics show that Borobudur receives as many as 4 million visitors to the temple every year.

For those who that means nothing to, think top of Queensland then head north  to Papua New Guinea then go the bottom right of the country and there is a tiny weeny island just there called Doini. You with me? Nice!

Doini Island is that kin...

Have you ever had that day where you are completely exhausted and your kids are running around like they are howler monkeys on red bull? That’s what can happen when your kids get overtired, or jet lagged, or eat too much sugar. Trust me, I know. But since this article is more about dealing with time changes while travelling with kids, let’s just focus on that one.

One of the main concerns of parents when they think about travelling with kids is the thought of dealing with time changes. Jet lag happens because the body hasn’t yet adapted to the...
